Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Energy Secretary Rick Perry and Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta all attended this week's meeting of the National Mining Association, a major mining lobbying group, The Washington Post reported.

The meeting was held at the Trump International Hotel, just a few blocks from the White House, the newspaper said. Aides to Ross, Acosta and Perry all confirmed that the Cabinet members went to the meeting.

Ross headlined a Tuesday general sessions meeting. Acrosta met with NMA members during a lunch session and Perry spoke at a breakfast meeting, the Post noted.

Perry tweeted about his appearance on Wednesday:

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke also was scheduled to attend, but had to back out. Interior Deputy Secretary David Bernhardt attended in his place, the Post reported.

Money made by Trump International Hotel goes into a trust in President Donald Trump's name.

The president does not receive direct proceeds from the Washington hotel business while he is in office, according to the Post.

In the past, top-level Obama administration officials have attended the association's meetings, NMA spokesman Luke Popovich said.

The Hill noted Trump had promised during the campaign to lift restrictions on mining.
