Jeb Bush: Obama Caved to Political Pressure on Trade

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is leading Mitt Romney’s campaign charge against President Barack Obama’s handling of trade ahead of the Commander in Chief’s Friday afternoon speech in Tampa, Florida on trade, reports the Huffington Post.

Bush argues that despite Obama signing Free Trade Agreements last fall with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea, he sat on the deals for three years prior.

“President Obama missed several opportunities early in his administration to secure quick passage of trade agreements with Colombia and Panama which together will create thousands of jobs here in Florida,” Bush said in a statement released by the Romney campaign.

Bush argues that Obama caved to political pressure exerted by powerful labor unions to stall the trade agreements. A delay, that Bush contends, cost “$1 billion in agriculture exports to Colombia alone.”

Obama will travel to Colombia to meet with Latin American leaders following his engagement in Tampa.
