Indictments are likely coming as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and there could even be some guilty pleas, independent counsel Ken Starr, who led both the Monica Lewinsky and Whitewater probes, said Saturday.

"Given what happened this summer with respect to the FBI's intrusion into Paul Manafort's condominium, in light of the revelations that we've seen about General [Michael] Flynn, I have a sense that there will in fact be indictments," he told CNN's "Smerconish" program, reports The Hill.

Further, foreign nationals could face indictments, said Starr, "in light of the information that is now coming out with respect to Russian attempts to influence both the national election and 21 different states."

Mueller's team warned Manafort to expect an indictment when the former campaign manager's house was raided in July.
