First ISIS-Linked Hacker Extradited to the US

An ISIS-linked hacker whose alleged breach of an American company provided a "kill list" of more than 1,300 U.S. military and government workers has been extradited to the United States, The Hill reports.

Ardit Ferizi, a 20-year-old Kosovo citizen, appeared in federal court in Virginia on Wednesday, The Hill reports. He'd been arrested by Malaysian authorities last October on charges of providing material support to the Islamic State — a charge that carries a 35-year prison sentence.

The Hill reports an ISIS hacking group released a "kill list" last August of what it claimed was information for roughly 1,300 U.S. military and government personnel. Some — but not all — of the material was outdated, The Hill reports.

The Department of Justice alleges Ferizi hacked into the U.S. company and then passed the data to Junaid Hussain, one of ISIS's top online recruiters and a leader of the so-called CyberCaliphate, another ISIS hacking team, The Hill reports.

Hussain was killed in an airstrike later that month.
