Just-leaked emails reveal the friendly relationship between Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, just months before the FBI opened a probe into Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state, the Washington Examiner reported.
The notes between Clinton campaign staffers — apparently hacked from campaign chair John Podesta's email account and posted on WikiLeaks — discussed whether Clinton should issue a statement approving Lynch's confirmation as attorney general.
"She knows Loretta. Not an extremely close relationship and don't remember last time they connected," wrote Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin, who is vice chair of the campaign. "Regardless, definitely a cordial relationship."
The FBI later declined to bring charges against Democratic presidential candidate.
The Examiner reported other emails reveal Clinton's campaign staffers had "direct contact with the Justice Department in advance of Freedom of Information Act hearings that could have exposed Clinton's private emails.''
