Trump Counsel: Trump Not Worried About 'Spineless' Who Run Away From Him

Donald Trump is focused on making America great again and not on "spineless individuals" such as NBC and Macys who have "run away from him" when he is criticized, Michael Cohen, executive vice president and special counsel of the Trump Organization, told CNN's "Reliable Sources" on Sunday.

"He is not worried about these ancillary businesses or these spineless individuals that want to run away from him," Cohen said.

Trump, whom Cohen described as a "mega-billionaire," isn't worried about the bottom line as he takes on illegal immigration, he said.

"He is worried about the veterans. He's worried about national security. He is worried about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid," Cohen said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham
, another GOP presidential candidate, said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday that Trump has become a "wrecking ball" for the Republican Party's future and is uninformed about the illegal immigrant population.

"I'm not really sure what Lindsey Graham is saying. I don't think anybody cares what he's saying, to be very honest with you," Cohen said. "Donald Trump has hit a chord. Even from yesterday in Arizona,  what was supposed to be a thousand-person event turned out to be a 20,000. The silent majority has been awoken."

Host Brian Stelter challenged the 20,000 figure, saying that The New York Times reported less than 10,000.

"Whether it's 5,000, 10,000 or 20,000, it's a complete sellout," Cohen said. "Why does it matter? What you see is a movement. You see a movement of people that are angry. They're angry with the all-talk-no-action policy of our career politicians."

Trump's off-the-cuff speeches are an asset and not a liability, Cohen said.

"That's what makes Donald Trump authentic," he said. "That's why he resonates with the people. He doesn't have pre-scripted speeches that people spend two, three weeks on polling in order to find out, 'Well, if you say this, it's going to resonate well in your poll numbers.'"

Even though Trump criticizes the mainstream media, they still are happy to cover him, Stelter noted. Cohen said that's because Trump creates ratings.

"What Donald Trump is angry about is there was a statement that was made regarding Mexico, and every liberal media outlet jumped on it and they switched it from Mexico meaning the government to the Mexican people. And that was absolutely unfair," Cohen said. "It backfired on them because, again, he's polling No. 1."
