Many conservatives mistakenly believe Obama holds the record for the biggest political lie in modern history: “If you like your doctor, you can keep him.”

Yet it was quickly proven wrong by the passage of Obamacare.

A flash in the pan like “keep your doctor” pales in comparison to the lie that began in 1970 and is still going strong. Richard Nixon signed the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act and proclaimed, “no American woman should be denied access to family planning assistance because of her economic condition.”

Pro–life voters and members of Congress immediately asked, What if her planning involves an abortion?

Taxpayers opposed to having their money used to finance a procedure they considered an abomination and politicians afraid of them were assured “no federal funds sent to Planned Parenthood are used to pay for abortions.”

State and federal tax dollars are supposedly specifically earmarked by conscientious bureaucrats for use in only non-abortion related services, and are in no way allowed to facilitate Planned Parenthood’s industrial–strength disassembly lines.

It’s a complete and total lie that still poisons the abortion debate today.

The government can no more earmark money in a pool any more than you can earmark water in a pool. It’s as impossible as eating an entire chocolate cake and ordering it to avoid landing on your behind.

As Barbara Boland of CNSNews.com points out, almost half of Planned Parenthood’s funding comes from federal, state and local government, a total of $540.6 million.

Pretending that enormous sum of money doesn’t free up other dollars to pay for killing the unborn is like telling the judge two of the four beers you drank had no effect while you drove the car into the ditch and shouldn’t count against your blood alcohol level.

The fact that Republican members of Congress use this deceptive reasoning as justification for their abject failure to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood only proves how weak they are and how easily gulled the public is.

One has but to look at the eagerness with which leftists are forcing religious institutions to cover abortion to see how foolish it is to believe in monetary segregation. It’s as impossible as “separate but equal.”

At the federal level and in some states Republicans are comfortable with perpetual surrender in the funding fight, but it’s much different in the private sector.

2nd Vote — a website that describes itself as “a group of conservatives who are dedicated to helping you know where your money really goes when you're buying a product, eating at a restaurant, or supporting an organization” — released a report that reveals the United Way sends charitable contributions to Planned Parenthood.

Christians and conservatives who don’t want their charitable donations funding death were outraged. Pro–life voters may not be able to move their inert congressional leadership into action, but they can certainly close their wallets and that’s exactly what United Way fears.

The organization issued an eerily familiar statement, “Out of nearly 1,200 local United Ways in the United States, only a small number (less than 6 percent) provide support [money] to Planned Parenthood . . . no United Way funds are currently used, or have ever been used to support abortion services.”

BoycottUnitedWay.org wasn’t falling for old earmark excuse, “You can’t just donate to Planned Parenthood and say your donation is earmarked for utilities, staff, or paper clips but not abortion. The building and the staff and the utilities all contribute in some way to abortion and are involved it.

"Any money whatsoever going to Planned Parenthood in any way contributes to the more than 327,000 abortions they commit every year and the harvesting and selling of the body parts of aborted babies.”

2nd Vote found that United Way organizations in 30 states have sent charitable contributions to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood’s combined revenue from tax dollars, profit and private contributions was over $1 billion in 2013. Planned Parenthood claims 327,166 abortions during that year, but the figure is low.

It doesn’t include dispensing 1,590,000 doses of morning after pills that are the equivalent of a drive–thru abortion.

Planned Parenthood would have you belief that it’s crucial lynchpin in keeping women alive and healthy, assuming they escape the birth canal. But that’s simply another lie.

They claim 550,000 “breast exams” but not one facility owns a mammogram machine and women can get pap tests at the minute clinic.

Cutting 45 percent of Planned Parenthood’s revenue would have a dramatic effect on the organization and eliminate the biggest lie in U.S. politics.

It will stop using tax dollars to lobby Congress for more money — an offense second to using the money for abortions — clinics” will close, propaganda campaigns will disappear and best of all, more of the unborn will survive.
