There is nothing like the thrill of watching someone else getting beaten up to put a spring in an academic’s step. As long as the viewing comes from a safe and liability-free distance.

Two professors, one from Purdue and the other from Stanford, can hardly wait to get in on the vicarious excitement.

Stanford’s David Palumbo-Liu and Purdue’s Bill Mullen have founded another falsely-named organization to fight a vast network of “right-wing totalitarians” that doesn’t happen to exist. The fact a threat is imaginary won’t prove to be a hindrance in their efforts, just look at the hundreds of millions that have been raised and spent to fight the fantasy of “Global Warming.”

Instead what will happen is their “Campus Antifascist Network” (CAN) will recruit its own fascists to attack run-of-the-mill conservatives who have the temerity to disagree with the disingenuous professors of ideology. Whoops, slight mistake. Their nominal titles involve teaching literature, but since the English Dept. is second only to the Sociology Dept. for manufacturing wild-eyed Marxist zealots, ideology professors is close enough.

Campus Reform obtained a copy of the invitation letter to join their revolutionary defense cell and the letter, along with a follow-up interview, are masterful examples of twisting language to disguise intent. CAN “would advocate self-defense...of those who are being threatened by fascists, but not violence.”

That’s a head-shaker right there when you realize all the campus violence, with the exception of Charlottesville, has been instigated by leftists. But what the duo really mean to attack are Americans that have the audacity to support Donald Trump, “Since Trump’s election, fascists, neofascists, and their allies have used blatantly Islamophobic, antisemitic, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, and ableist messaging and iconography to recruit to their ranks and intimidate students, faculty, and staff.”

The founding fascists are much more revealing when they admit they intend to “[confront] groups [they] consider fascist and ‘drive racists off campuses.’” That will certainly cut down on the time for a “dialogue about race.”

The dynamic duo also reserves the right to define and justify for themselves the groups who will be targets of “self-defense” in the future. Palumbo-Liu explained, “we need to pay attention to what is happening, not the labels that we feel are most fitting.”

I’m sure like the former Missouri professor who called for “a little muscle” to do her attacking for her, neither Mullen or Palumbo-Liu plan to do any head-busting on their own. Their role will no doubt be confined to enabling.

Of course this is outrageous and fortunately there is a response that will get the attention of spineless university administrators. Major donors should simply close their wallets and parents should send incoming freshmen elsewhere.

It worked at the University of Missouri in the aftermath of the call for “muscle” and it will work at Stanford and Purdue.
