Sheriff Joe Arpaio Falls Victim to Biased Judicial System

Yesterday, much to the pleasure of the left, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the former chief law enforcement officer of Maricopa County, Arizona, was predictably found guilty of criminal contempt for allegedly profiling illegal immigrant Latinos at day workers sites — where else can you mostly find them — in violation of a prior court order, obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union, before a politicized judge, G. Murray Snow. I say predictably, because the federal judge who gleefully made the ruling holding "America’s Sheriff" in criminal contempt, a buddy of Judge Snow, Susan Bolton, is — you guessed it — an appointee of former President Bill Clinton.

Regrettably, as the founder of both Judicial Watch and now Freedom Watch, and as a former candidate for the U.S. Senate in Florida, I have fought my entire career to restore ethics, morality, and honesty to the legal system. I truly believe in the legal system and continue to fight for it tooth and nail. But sadly, this country, which falsely prides itself on being the most just in the world, is far from that.

Federal judges in particular, with the exception of just a handful I have encountered over my 40-year career, wear their biases and politics on their robes, and mete them out at nearly every opportunity to further the agendas of those that got them their judicial job. The system with which federal judges are chosen — essentially political patronage — is a serious weakness in our constitutional system of government and it will need to be changed lest this nation fall into a state of lawlessness, with the citizenry ultimately resorting to mass violence after losing faith in the courts to mete out justice, as occurred in the months leading up to the American revolution.

Lately, with the election as president of Donald J. Trump, notwithstanding this latest "Arpaio legal outrage," one can see most clearly how bad the situation has become.

Trump and his compromised Justice Department, run by the investigated and neutered attorney general Jeff Sessions, has lost every lower court decision on immigration and other matters since January 20, 2017, the date the Donald was sworn in as our president. The simple reason: These lower courts are now packed, thanks to 16 of the last 24 years of Clinton and Obama rule, with leftist judges, who largely could care less about the rule of law or the Constitution. In short, with just a few exceptions like the honest and fair minded liberal Judge Ronald Gould of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, they are by and large modern day political hacks who were put there to do a job on conservatives, libertarians, people of faith, and others who truly believe in the vision of our Founding Fathers. As a result, although Hillary Clinton went down in flames in the last presidential election, her army of rabid feminist leftists on the bench, like Judge Bolten, march on to extract their revenge. The same is true of the Obama appointed jurists, who from their perch on the judicial podium generally see racism and discrimination around every street corner.

The Los Angeles Times, that leftist print publication only surpassed by The New York Times and The Washington Post among so called major mainstream newspapers, cheaply had this to say in an article written by Melissa Etehad yesterday titled "Joe Arpaio, former sheriff in Arizona, is found guilty of criminal contempt" (July 31, 2017). Writing Sheriff Arpaio’s obituary as if he had been lynched by her ilk, she penned:

"He was known for crackdowns on illegal immigration and tough incarceration policies. He forced inmates to wear pink underwear and housed them in canvas tents under the hot Arizona sun."

"Such practices drew sharp criticism from advocates for civil and immigrant rights but made him popular with many Arizonans and turned him into a national icon for opponents of illegal immigration. He campaigned for Donald Trump during last year’s presidential race and continued to be a leading proponent of the lie that President Obama was not born in the United States after Trump dropped it."

Arpaio never said that Obama was not born in this country, only that he had posted what was likely a fraudulent birth certificate. And, from the tenor of the article by Ms. Etehad, it is clear that she despises the sheriff in large part because he supported and campaigned for Trump during last year’s elections.

But this attitude and approach, both on the federal bench, in the media and elsewhere these days, is hardly unique. The bottom line is that if you supported or now even approve of President Trump and his agenda, then you and your loved ones are enemies of the left and will be attacked. In Sheriff Arpaio case, he is now subject to a potential sentence of six months in federal prison.

Yes, yesterday America’s Sheriff, one of the few persons in this nation who has the guts to stand up for the rule of law and the Constitution and put his 85 year life on the line, was legally lynched and then viciously smeared in the media by the left. Yesterday, it was Arpaio and if things do not change, tomorrow it could be you and your loved one based simply on your political beliefs. This is the world we live in today.
