Former British Independence Party leader Nigel Farage criticized Republicans for opposing President Donald Trump, saying they are going against the will of those who elected him the same way in which political elites in England are trying to sabotage Brexit.
"The political revolution of 2016 with Brexit and with Trump was people voting for change, real, fundamental change," Farage told Fox News on Sunday. “And here we are in the middle of the following year and that change isn't happening."
"What is so frustrating on both sides of the pond is that there are people who masquerade as conservatives in order to get themselves elected and are now damaging the attempt for us to get a clean Brexit, stopping the president getting his agenda through Congress, and I think there is something very fundamental at stake here, it is people's faith and belief in the whole democratic process."
Farage explained that, “There must know be now growing, real genuine anger amongst millions of those who turned out to vote for Trump…. in many cases who perhaps had not voted in their lives… They engage with the process, they have a president who is holding faith with them that wants to carry out the agenda, and yet it’s Trump’s own side that is stopping these things from happening.”
He warned that it will be very bad for society “If people don’t get want they want and they start to lose faith in the whole democratic process.”
Farage suggested that there should be a weeding out of those anti-Trump Republicans who are not playing for the same team.
