When President Obama gave his address to a Joint Session of Congress last night, he made a reference to all of the Congressmen who
had taken an "oath" never to raise taxes.
He was, of course, referring to the famous "pledge" promulgated by Americans for Tax Reform, the Washington anti-tax group headed
by Grover Norquist.
After the President's speech, Norquist offered his reaction:
"Obama demanded that Congress pass his plan. What plan?
"Tonight he talked in generalities about a second round of his already failed stimulus. This time he promised he would have tax hikes to 'pay for' his plan.
"The tax hikes are not written down. Or, if they are, he refused to share them with the American people.
"Half a plan at best. And a used plan now three years old.
"Dr. Obama prescribed leeches for the ailing economy three years ago. The economy got sicker.
"Now he has a new plan. More leeches."
