Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has accepted an invitation to join
The Newsmax ION 2012 Presidential Debate to be moderated by Donald J. Trump.
On Saturday afternoon Gingrich’s campaign used their Twitter feed to announce: “Newt has accepted the invitation from Newsmax for a Dec. 27 debate in Iowa.”
Several polls show Gingrich leading the GOP field of candidates, with former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney trailing in second place.

The Newsmax ION Television Debate will be held at the Hoyt Sherman Theater in Des Moines, Iowa, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET – and will be the last forum of major Republican presidential candidates a week before the Jan. 3, 2012 Iowa caucus.
The Newsmax ION Television Debate will be televised live nationwide on ION Television to 99 million U.S. homes.
ION Television boasts the largest number of network-owned broadcast stations in the nation and ranks among the top ten cable TV networks. ION is also carried by satellite providers DirectTV and DISH.

Ruddy added that the debate will be a serious forum involving reputable journalists where Mr. Trump will lead an important conversation about the future of the country.
