Gov. Chris Christie has not publicly revealed how much weight he’s lost since undergoing bariatric surgery last year. But news accounts say he’s told associates he has shed 85 pounds.
According to the
Asbury Park Press, the governor told conservative donors at David Koch's New York apartment that he'd lost that much weight. It was a closed door meeting, no press allowed, but
The New York Times said a guest talked about what occurred.
"Christie was pressed by donors about his health. He did not reveal his current weight, although he said he understood he had to slim down if he wanted to move beyond Trenton,” the guest said.
“And he brought the house down with a joke: 'A doctor once told me you have to have the right relationship with the food you eat. And believe me, for many years, I had a great relationship with the foods I ate.' "
The apartment building at 740 Park Avenue where the event was held was once the childhood home of Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
