Trump Campaign Bars Iowa's Top Newspaper From Event

The Des Moines Register will not be covering Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's event Saturday in Iowa.

The newspaper reported Friday that the Trump campaign has denied the Hawkeye State's largest newspaper press credentials to cover the "family picnic" in Oskaloosa because of an editorial this week calling for the billionaire businessman to quit the 2016 race.

Corey Lewandowski, Trump's national campaign manager, told Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich that the newspaper was being excluded because of the editorial.

The Register said its editorial board works independently from the news operation.
