Southern Nationalist Group to Newsmax: Whites Being Demonized

By    |   Wednesday, 24 June 2015 05:46 PM

Those demanding the Confederate flag be removed from public display want to demonize all white people as racists, Pat Hines, chairman of the Southern nationalist organization League of the South, tells Newsmax TV.

"If you're white, you're a racist. That's the ultimate goal. Right now if you're a white southerner, you're a racist, but they will remove the word 'southerner' just as soon as it's to their benefit to do that," Hines said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"There's even talk of them restricting the Confederate battle flag on private homes. It would be illegal to have that on the front of your house."

Hines called the current war on the Confederate flag — which began after a white racist who posed with the flag in photos gunned down nine African Americans in a Charleston, South Carolina church — "cultural genocide."

On Monday, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said the flag, seen as a symbol of slavery, should be removed from the state's capitol building grounds. And on Wednesday, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley ordered Confederate flags removed from the grounds of his state capitol.

'That's just the beginning. They are talking about forcing change of at least five state flags for southern states because they have some similar appearances to the Confederate battle flag and they hate that," said Hines, whose Alabama-based group wants "a free and independent Southern republic" of states that made up the former Confederacy.

"Let's face it, the southern culture is hated by what I call the northeaster Yankee elite.

"They've hated us for a long time. It's not really anything new, but they have really recently wigged up the heat.... They're already talking about destroying the Jefferson Memorial in Washington."

League of the South has sparked controversy with its views. The Southern Poverty Law Center has deemed the group to be a Neo-Confederate hate group.
