Sixty percent of voters in the national exit poll view Donald Trump unfavorably, which  makes him the most-disliked president-elect in modern times, according to Politico.

Thirty-eight percent of voters viewed him favorably.

Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent, was not viewed much more favorably, coming in at 54 percent unfavorable.

Among voters who viewed them both unfavorably, almost half chose Trump:

  • Trump: 49 percent.
  • Clinton: 29 percent.

The exit poll recorded how voters said they would feel if Trump won:

  • Scared: 36 percent.
  • Concerned: 20 percent.
  • Optimistic: 27 percent.
  • Excited: 13 percent.

More voters believed Clinton was more honest than Trump:

  • Clinton: 36 percent.
  • Trump: 33 percent.

As to whether they believed Trump was qualified to be president, only 38 percent said they did, but Trump still won almost one-fifth (18 percent) of their votes.

Trump's immigration policies were not popular with voters, as 70 percent thought that undocumented immigrants working in the U.S. should be given legal status. Trump won more than a third of those voters. Fifty-four percent opposed Trump's stated idea to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, but 17 percent of those voted for him.

The Republican makes out worse compared to the most recent president-elect, President Barack Obama. About the prospect of his election in 2008, voters said they would feel:

  • Excited: 30 percent.
  • Optimistic: 24 percent.
  • Scared: 24 percent.
  • Concerned: 20 percent.

While Trump campaigned against Obama's policies, 53 percent of voters approve of the president's job performance, Politico reported.

According to NPR, some demographics of Trump's supporters said that he specifically appeals to men and non-college educated whites.
