Hillary Clinton said late Saturday that she had been "briefed about the bombings in New York and New Jersey" and slammed Donald Trump for declaring that a "bomb went off" in lower Manhattan before authorities announced more details.

"Obviously, we need to do everything we can to support our first responders, also to pray for the victims," Clinton told reporters aboard her airplane in White Plains, N.Y. "We have to let this investigation unfold."

Authorities said the blast injured 29 people —and Mayor Bill de Blasio said early indications were that the blast was intentional.

But he said there was no evidence of a "credible and specific threat" to the city. "We do not see a link to terrorism."

Clinton told reporters that she had talked briefly with President Barack Obama about the two explosions and the stabbing attack at a shopping mall in St. Cloud, Minn.

"We have been in touch with various officials, including the mayor's office in New York," she said. "What they are discovering as they conduct this investigation — and I'll more to say about it when we actually know some facts."

Regarding Trump's comment in Colorado Springs that "a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what's going on," Clinton said that "it's important to know the facts about any incident like this.

"That's why it's critical to support the first responders, the investigators who are looking into it, trying to determine what did happen.

"It's always wiser to wait until you have information before making conclusions, because we are just in the beginning stages of trying to determine what happened," Clinton said.

She declined to speculate on how the explosions might affect the presidential race, cautioning: "I'm just concerned about any kind of incident that happens anywhere in our country.

"We should again withhold judgment until we know more about what happened with the likely motivation might have been," Clinton said.

"Obviously, do everything we can to determine who was behind these incidents."
