Gary Johnson: Hillary, Trump Is Like Choosing a 'Heart Attack or Cancer'

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson — optimistic there's an "opportunity" for his White House bid — says voting for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton is like choosing "between a heart attack or cancer."

In an interview with WABC radio host Rita Cosby, Johnson decried the tone and lack of substance of the first two presidential debates.

"I think ... that it's just become mudslinging, and to a degree that we've never seen before," he said, leaving voters with little choice.

"What would it be, the difference between a heart attack or cancer?" he asks. "It's just … really, it's a horrible choice."

Johnson has been eliminated from participating in the last presidential debate Oct. 19, with national polls used to decide which candidate qualifies, showing Johnson polling at 7 percent, Clinton at 45.8 percent and Trump at 40.4 percent, Politico reported.

Still, Johnson believes "with Trump's meltdown right now I think there's an opportunity… to really court Republicans, because Trump's just not going to win."

"It's not going to happen," he said of a win by the GOP nominee. "It's in the cards, this is baked in right now… there is a certainty when it comes to voting for Trump, and that is... total uncertainty. I have no idea where this guy is, I really don't."

But the Democratic nominee is a hypocrite, he declared, referring to the release by WikiLeaks of hacked emails that contain excerpts of Clinton's paid speeches to Wall Street.

They "basically, you know ... show Hillary being hypocritical — saying one thing in front of one group, and saying another thing in front of most of America … I think that that's the one unforgivable."
