With Rep. Kevin McCarthy out of the race for House Speaker, veteran political analyst Dick Morris tells Newsmax TV
both Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Rep. Daniel Webster of Florida are excellent candidates to fill the position.
But first, Morris says, the party has to get a grip on its growingly shaky political base.
McCarthy, the House Majority Leader, dropped out Thursday
— the day his party was poised to nominate him to replace outgoing speaker John Boehner.
"The leadership now needs to get its act together," Morris said Thursday on "Newsmax Prime" with J.D. Hayworth.

"[Chaffetz] is Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside. On the one hand, he's a certified conservative and a member of that group. On the other hand, he served as chairman of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee very, very effectively and got that position by a vote of the caucus."
"Webster's a very good guy... tremendously articulate and a strong conservative supporter."
Morris is author of "Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan For a One-Party Nation,"
written with Eileen McGann and published by Humanix.
