Donald Trump has said he wants to deport all illegal aliens from the United States, but inconsistent statements he has made suggest the number would actually be miniscule.
The Daily Caller says the "most reasonable estimate of the number of illegal immigrants he now wants to deport based on his statements is 690,000 — out of a widely accepted total of 11 million."
If Trump, as president, carried out that plan, "about 10,310,000 illegal immigrants — over 93 percent — would continue to reside in the United States," The Caller says.
Trump could end up revising those numbers on Wednesday, when he is scheduled to make what he calls "a major speech on illegal immigration."
He has come under criticism for suggesting last week that he could "work with" people living illegally in the United States, despite his early push to deport all undocumented immigrants.
On Sunday, his campaign team said Trump is committed to a "fair and humane" approach to securing America's borders without going into detail.
