Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are projected to lead their parties in this fall's presidential election, a new nationwide CNN/ORC poll shows.

According to the poll, while Trump tops his nearest competitor by more than 30 points, Clinton tops Sanders by nearly 20 points.

On the Republican side, the poll shows:
  • Donald Trump, 49 percent
  • Marco Rubio, 16 percent
  • Ted Cruz, 15 percent
  • Ben Carson, 10 percent
  • John Kasich, 6 percent
In terms of who Republicans believe the best candidate would be to solve the countries problems, most say Trump.
  • Donald Trump, 51 percent
  • Ted Cruz, 17 percent
  • Marco Rubio, 13 percent
  • Ben Carson, 10 percent
CNN reports that on the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton tops Bernie Sanders 55 to 38 percent, a wider margin than she held in late January before any primaries or caucuses were held.

Although Clinton fares better than Sanders when it comes to who would be more effective in solving the country's problems, 59 percent of Democrats say that Sanders is more honest and trustworthy than Clinton who polled at 36 percent.

The CNN/ORC Poll was conducted by telephone Feb. 24-27 among a random national sample of 1,001 adults. Results for the 418 registered voters who are Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 5 percentage points. It is the same for results among the 427 Republican and Republican-leaning voters.
