3 Documentaries That Tackle Public Fears of Vaccines

While the battle to determine the safety and necessity of vaccine use continues, many parents are left without trust for either side. Many documentaries support claims against vaccinations, and film’s supporting vaccinations are also beginning to fight back to educate the public.

Here are three documentaries that tackle public fears concerning vaccines.

1. Invisible Threat (2014)
This film interviews both people for and against vaccines, however scientifically backs the use of medicine to cure diseases. Instead of pointing a finger at companies and the government, many health experts give blame for illness to parents who refuse to give their children proper medical attention. This documentary is available for rent on Vimeo on demand and has a running time of 42 minutes.

2. Vaccines—Calling the Shots (2014)
This Nova documentary focuses on the ongoing debate surrounding the effectiveness of vaccines. It focuses on a parent’s choice to vaccinate their children or to keep them vaccine free. Many different health and medical experts give their take on the ongoing debate throughout the film. Although the documentary does reveal that vaccinations have the potential to be deadly, the film also says the chance of someone being permanently harmed is very slim. The film can be watched for free on YouTube and has a running time of 53 minutes.

3. Jabbed (2013)
“Jabbed” is a similar documentary focused on the battle between vaccines, and if they are healthy or deadly for children. This film, however, places the blame of recurring diseases and widespread sickness on parents who don’t believe in vaccinations. The film interviews scientists and health experts who continue to doubt the choices some parents make to leave their child vaccine free. This documentary tackles public fear of vaccines and attempts to prove it wrong and harmful. The film itself is 90 minutes long.
