By now, there is no legitimate question about why Sebastian Gorka wears his father’s medal on celebratory occasions. It was awarded in 1979 to honor Pál (Paul) Gorka’s struggles as an anti-Communist freedom fighter.

Seb is proud of his father. Had the "journalists" who have been savaging Seb shown even a modicum of honesty, they would have reported that the post-WWII Order of Vitez (an unofficial form of knighthood) promoted Hungarian freedom from Soviet domination and that the order — certainly in the post-war period — is not a Nazi organization.

In fact, as recently as September of 2016, the Order commemorated the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, remembering the Nazis’ victims and honoring Hungarian soldiers who, despite their country being allied with the Germans, refused the Germans' orders to put down the Uprising.

In the rush to taint everyone ever associated with any aspect of the vitez so that they can lynch one Trump advisor, the anti-Trump media and a number of Congressional Democrats have failed to acknowledge that even during the War, the Order of Vitez counted amongst its members not only Jews, but Christians like Protestant minister Miklós (Nicholas) vitez Makay who at great peril to themselves opposed Hungarian anti-Semitism and the Nazi regime, and István vitez Poór who risked all to save Jews from Nazis.

Instead, the slanderers stack nonsense atop nonsense. The latest smoking gun is more a smoking jacket. It seems Gorka favors a Hungarian "bocskai" suit for formal events (essentially a Hungarian tuxedo) which the xenophobic fashion inquisitors of the left suggest is further evidence of Nazi sympathies.

Hungarian-American Jewish journalist David Reaboi upended that hilariously, tweeting well-known Holocaust-survivor Imre Kertesz’ wistful reminiscences of his blue bar mitzvah bocskai.

The faux-outrage pretense of those still yapping at Gorka’s heels is that he needs to clarify that he personally is not the "bad kind" of Hungarian — that he isn’t sympathetic to Nazism — and to apologize for wearing his father’s hard-earned medal.

Gorka should not be goaded into dignifying the insult.

It is not only demeaning to Gorka to demand that he publicly spurn Nazism, it is an obvious trap, a loaded challenge of the "When did you last beat your wife?" variety.

No. The scalp his enemies want is just such a statement — as though he has done something that requires remorse, or excuse, or even clarification.

Because we happen to actually have read Gorka’s book "Defeating Jihad," we realized that his views on Nazism already are quite clear and quite public.

In that book Gorka lays out the case for the need to defeat evil today by invoking the memory of the last great war against evil. "Nazism was evil," Gorka writes, “as all the world had seen with the liberation of the death camps of Auschwitz, Birkenau, and Treblinka . . . " And "the war between the Allies and the evil forces of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi empire . . . Jihadis "bear a great resemblance to the Nazis . . . "

Surely that gives anyone remotely interested in the truth sufficient insight into Gorka’s actual thinking on the subject of Nazism. It also should have ended this farce before it began. So we wondered what else might be readily available that the intrepid Nazi hunters in the media and on the Hill either never looked for or chose not to share.

We found plenty.

So here, as a public service, is a sampling of Gorka’s published thoughts on Nazism that all seem somehow to have eluded the Washington, D.C. press corps.

Bear in mind that Gorka wrote these words well before anyone came up with the political expedient of labeling him a Nazi sympathizer and demanding his resignation.

In a U.S. military publication dated April-June 2014, Gorka wrote of Global Jihad "Not only is the enemy totalitarian, he is not a secular, godless totalitarian like Hitler or Stalin, because this totalitarian ideology believes it has god on its side."

In June 2014, Gorka approvingly asserted that we commemorate D-Day because it was "The pivotal operation that would break the back of the mass-murderer Adolf Hitler’s "thousand-year Reich."

According to Gorka, commemorating the anti-Nazi invasion is in fact "a commitment to the principles upon which our Republic was founded and the willingness to lay down one’s life for the values they represent."

A month later, Gorka described the ideology of global jihadism by comparing it to the worst possible ideology he could conjure, "[t]he adherents of this world view crucify Christians, behead Americans, and massacre or subjugate any and all who stand in their way . . . Theirs is a totalitarian vision of the world just as binary and absolutist as that of the Third Reich… , " July 9, 2014, citing a previous publication dated April 2, 2014.

In fact, Gorka regularly compares — and sees a direct link from — Nazism to the genocidal extremism that unites radical jihadi groups, "The commonality of jihadism with Fascism and Communism is not an accident. In fact, key Jihadi authors . . . studied Mussolini, Lenin and Hitler when writing seminal Jihadist works . . . ," Sept. 24, 2014, citing previous publication dated April 2, 2014.

Gorka makes clear that Nazism is not just the madness of one man, or the excesses of one regime, but an inherently evil ideology. "[T]he Nazis were incarnate evil," he wrote in December, 2014. And in November, 2015, "Calling Hitler a barbarian was useless. In the Nazi case, it was the ideology making barbarism honorable that had to be attacked . . . "

Gorka’s stated views on Nazism leave no room for doubt — "Nazism was evil,"  "mass-murderer Adolf Hitler," "godless totalitarian like Hitler," "the evil forces of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi empire," "the Nazis were incarnate evil," etc. — which leads us to the real scandal here.

The apparently sociopathic willingness to character assassination, the unprecedented weaponizing of venerable media organizations, the establishment of faux-Jewish groups, and the cavalier accusations of anti-Semitism by unscrupulous journalists and exploitative politicians is not only an offense against Gorka; it cheapens and enables the real thing which is alive and well, and which Gorka has dedicated his life to fighting.

It turns out that explanations and apologies are indeed owed; but not by Seb Gorka.
