Hezbollah May Block Gaza-Bound Ships

Beirut is working with the Hezbollah militant group to prevent humanitarian aid ships from sailing to the Gaza Strip, according to Lebanese press reports Thursday.

Lebanese Prime Minister Said Hariri and Hezbollah - which also functions as an opposition political party - are trying to stop the boats from setting sail from local ports Thursday, the Arabic-language Al Liwa daily reported.

Lebanese leaders fear that any new attempt to break Israel's maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip could inflame tensions in the region, already high since Israel killed nine Turkish activists during a raid on an aid convoy on May 31, the paper said.
