DUBIA - Dubai Police have uncovered 15 more suspects in the assassination of Hamas commander Mahmud al-Mabhuh, the Dubai government said on Wednesday, bringing the total number of people under investigation to 28.

The government released photos, CCTV footage and passport information of the new suspects, which include British, Irish, French and Australian passport holders.

It also identified the travel routes of the suspects and their destinations prior to and after the crime, which included six different European cities and Hong Kong.

Six of the suspects travelled on British passports, four used Irish passports, two French passports and three Australian passports, the government said in a statement, adding that all the passports were fake.

“Friendly nations who have been assisting in this investigation have indicated to the police in Dubai that the passports were issued in an illegal and fraudulent manner,” the statement said.

Fourteen of the suspects the killing used credit cards issued from the same small U.S.-based bank, the government said, adding that the cards were used to book hotel rooms and pay for air travel.

Dubai's police chief, Dahi Khalfan Tamim has blamed Israel for the hit. He said on Saturday new evidence incriminating the country’s spy agency Mossad in the killing included credit card payments and phone calls made by suspects.

Mabhuh, one of the founders of Hamas's military wing, was found dead in his room at the Al Bustan Rotana on Jan. 20, a day after arriving in the emirate. He was reportedly in transit on a trip to buy arms for Hamas.

Dubai Police last week identified 11 suspects in the assassination, all of which used fake European passports to travel to the emirate - six from Britain, three from Ireland, one from Germany and one from France.
