DAVOS, Switzerland — The founder of the World Economic Forum expects discussions among world leaders over the future of Syria and Iran to be held on the sidelines of the annual gathering for political and financial elites in the Swiss ski resort.
Klaus Schwab says that "some of the true leaders with the influence on the region" will be in Davos after they attend the start of the Syria peace conference elsewhere in Switzerland.
But Schwab said in an Associated Press interview Monday that Iranian leaders interested in attracting new investment must first build confidence in the country's deal to limit its nuclear program.
Schwab, a German economist and engineer, says of the Iranians that "only in the next phase can you really talk about business."
