LIGNET: Anti-Nuclear Bias Hinders Hunt for Asteroids in Space

The United States and Russia appear to be moving closer toward cooperating to destroy or deflect asteroids and meteoroids hurtling toward earth, such as the one that exploded above the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February. But the anti-nuclear bias of some scientists may get in the way, blocking the use of nuclear weapons to destroy asteroids in space.
