Club for Growth President Chris Chocola fired back at House Speaker John Boehner after he asserted Wednesday that conservative groups opposed to the budget agreement are "using" House Republicans for their own goals and were against a bipartisan deal to start with.
"We stand with Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Tom Coburn, Rand Paul, members of the Republican Study Committee and every other fiscal conservative who opposes the Ryan-Murray deal," Chocola said, adding that his conservative group never commented on budget negotiations before they were completed Tuesday,
CBS News reported
Boehner was asked in a press conference Wednesday what his reaction was to conservative groups who were coming out against the budget plan put together by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray.
"You mean the groups who came out and opposed it before they ever saw it?" Boehner asked.
"They're using our members and they're using the American people for their own goals," he said. "If you're for more deficit reduction, you're for this agreement."
