A Republican Congressional candidate from Georgia is driving home his message against Obamacare in a video parody of a daredevil stunt by Hollywood action hero Jean Claude Van Damme,
The Hill reported Wednesday
Mike Collins, who owns a trucking company, mimics Van Damme's "Epic Split" video in which the actor horizontally straddles two slow moving trucks in reverse in a Volvo commercial touting its "dynamic steering."
Story continues below video.
Collins, using the same mellow tone of voice as Van Damme, talks about steering away from the "disastrous" effects of Obamacare in his own 47-second video entitled "Mike Collins Epic Split."
Collins, who is not nearly as dexterous in his self-made video as Van Damme, veers from the original video's closing credits explaining the stunt was performed on a closed road to "demonstrate the dangers of Obamacare."
"I've had my fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds," he says in a rip off of the original, before adding, "Now I stand here before you. What you see is a small businessman confronted with ObamaCare — a disastrous government plan that defies the laws of the market and a mindset that the government knows better."
Collins — the son of former Rep. Mac Collins (R-Ga.) — is running in the mostly Republican 10th District to replace Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.), who is seeking a state senate seat.
The Van Damme video has received more than 57 million views. It's not clear how many hits Collins' video has had since its Tuesday release.
