Many people object to invasive airport screening by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents. So a House subcommittee voted on Wednesday to require the TSA to fast-track installation of technology that would keep security scanners from generating images of passengers’ naked bodies, The Hill
The TSA said last week that it is spending $44.8 million to buy 300-millimeter wave Advanced Imaging Technology machines that allow scanners to discover potential threats from a generic image that would be used for all passengers.
The House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation Security approved an amendment to the TSA’s appropriations bill to make the agency put the privacy equipment on all of its scanners within 90 days of the bill is approval.
