A U.S. Olympic official told USA Today President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration regarding people living in countries with terror ties could harm America's 2024 Olympic bid.

Christine Brennan reports that an anonymous source told her Trump's executive order signed last Friday makes the U.S. look bad in the eyes of the world.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has been critical of Trump as well. And Brennan reported that before the presidential election, four people tied to the 2024 bid were worried about the effect a President Trump could have on its chances of winning the right to host the Games.

The International Olympic Committee will select the host city for the 2024 Summer Games on Sept. 17 of this year. Los Angeles is going up against Paris and Budapest.

The U.S. last hosted an Olympics in 2002, when the Winter Games took place in Salt Lake City. Atlanta hosted the Summer Games in 1996.

Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympics in 1932 and 1984.

The Los Angeles Times reported earlier this month the U.S. Olympic Committee is putting all of its eggs in the 2024 basket,  with no plans to prepare a bid for the 2028 Games if it falls short of earning the right to host.
