Secret Service Officers Want Agent Fired For Posting She Would Rather Not Take Bullet For Trump

Secret Service officers are pressing for agent Kerry O’Grady, who was removed from her position for stating on Facebook that that she would rather not defend President Donald Trump or take "a bullet" for him, to not be transferred to another government job, the Washington Examiner reported on Sunday.

The agents are reportedly concerned that she will be moved to another section of the Homeland Security Department and allowed to serve there until she can retire with a pension, because that is what has been done with other officials who were subject to public criticism.

The agents also suspect that top officials in the agency tried to shield her from any punishment, because even though her Facebook post had been on since October, it was not until months later that an investigation was started after the Examiner reported on the comments.

O’Grady’s Facebook post stated that she thought Trump would be a disaster for the U.S. and said she supported Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

An investigation determined that O’Grady had violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees from advocating for or against a partisan political party, candidate or partisan political group and forbids the use of any email account or social media to distribute, send or forward content that advocates for a partisan figure or party.

The Daily News reported that O’Grady, who has been in charge of the Secret Service’s Denver district, said she had taken down the post from  her Facebook page after reflecting on it a few days and had only posted it after reacting emotionally to the revelation of Trump’s "Access Hollywood" tape from the last decade in which he made lewd comments about women.

The spouses of several Secret Service agents posted an online petition demanding that O’Grady be fired, because she was no longer worthy of trust and confidence after she had so blatantly violated her oath.
