In an appearance that could punt him from punchline to pundit, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford will join Washington, D.C., sports-radio show "The Sports Junkies" on Thursday to make his National Football League picks, the station announced.

"I mean, outside of Barack Obama, he's the most known politician in the world right now," John Auville, one of the morning show's hosts, said after the Wednesday announcement, the Washington Post reported.

"Who else would you rather have making picks besides the president?" added Jason Bishop, another of the four hosts. "I might even want Rob Ford over the president."

The mayor's chief of staff, Dan Jacobs, confirmed that the mayor – recently stripped of his powers by the Toronto City Council after admitting he smoked crack in a "drunken stupor"  – would be on 106.7-The Fan on Thursday morning, adding that it's not certain he'll make it a regular thing, the Globe and Mail reported.

Ford has been a lifelong pigskin fan, playing high school football and, from 2002 until earlier this year, coaching a local Catholic high school team. On Sunday, he took some ribbing when he attended the Buffalo Bills vs. Atlanta Falcons game at Rogers Centre in Toronto, USA Today reported

He isn't the first politician to take his turn behind the microphone. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has been a guest host twice on WFAN, a New York-area sports talk radio station, USA Today reported.
