People on social media have erupted in fury at a float in a July 4 parade in rural Sheridan, Ind. that depicted President Barack Obama in a toilet with the words "Lying African."

The IndyStar reported
on the story after a local resident who saw the float was disgusted by it and posted it on Facebook to show the public how disrespectful it was.

The controversial display was part of a golf cart that had signs for presidential candidate Donald Trump. Police said that they only secured the route and had nothing to do with the contents of the floats.

The Sheridan Lions Club organized the parade and was apparently responsible for approving the entries, but it was unclear how this one received permission, if it did at all.

Others called the float absolutely disgusting and wondered how such a racist display could still be on public display in the US of today.
