Forget terrorists for a moment — the new menace facing America may be Pokémon GO, which this week resulted in a driver completely captivated by the game ramming into a police car.

The unusual smash-up occurred Monday night in Baltimore, as a motorist concentrating on the wildly-popular mobile app — in which players capture, battle, and train virtual creatures — took his eyes off the road and barreled into a parked patrol car.

Two officers standing by the vehicle were unhurt, but Baltimore law enforcers were so alarmed, they produced a video showing the terrifying collision.

And in a tweet, they implored players to play carefully, and certainly not while speeding down the road.

The motorist escaped with minor injuries.

The Baltimore incident was one of several preventable mishaps being blamed on game players not paying attention to their surroundings.

Reports of Pokémon GO-related car accidents have been reported in New York and Texas. And in California, two men had to be rescued after falling off a cliff while they were searching for Pokémon characters.

The game, released this month, has become one of the most popular mobile diversions in the world.
