Fifty percent of voters are against repealing Obamacare without replacing it, while 36 percent are in favor, a new Politico/Morning Consult poll reveals.

Here are the highlights from the poll:

  • 60 percent of Republicans support repealing Obamacare without replacing it, while 31 percent oppose it.
  • 20 percent of Democrats favor repealing the healthcare law without replacing it, while 69 percent oppose it.
  • 30 percent on independents support repealing Obamacare without replacing it, compared to 50 percent who oppose it.
  • 31 percent of all those polled want Republicans to continue their efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare, 18 percent want them to move on to other things and 41 percent want them to improve the existing healthcare plan.

"The survey suggests congressional Republicans are squeezed between a base that wants Obamacare repealed, and a broader electorate that is — at best — skeptical of the GOP's plans for health care," Politico's Steven Shepard wrote.

The poll, conducted July 20-24, surveyed 3,981 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
