Mitt Romney was right on the money when he picked Duke University to win the NCAA men's basketball championship.

And the former Massachusetts governor says in a tweet that he should have put $10,000 on the impressive bracket he filled out in ESPN's Tournament Challenge, according to Politico.

Romney finished in the top 0.1 percent in the bracket pool, which put him in 6,326th place overall out of more than 11.5 million entrants. He topped it off by choosing Duke's Blue Devils to win over the University of Wisconsin's Badgers.

"Should have put $10,000 on my bracket," wrote the2012 GOP presidential candidate, and referring to Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, he added, "Congrats, Coach K and DukeU."

Romney had picked six of the Elite Eight teams correctly, as well as the Final Four and the final game, The Huffington Post noted.

In contrast, President Barack Obama, who is famous for his basketball knowledge, was in 6,918,578th place before the final, putting him in the 40th percentile.

Romney's comment about a $10,000 bet was believed to be a sly reference to a proposed wager he made to his detriment during a 2011 primary debate, Politico reported.

Romney wanted to make a bet for that sum with then-Texas Gov. Rick Perry about the Affordable Care Act, leading to a political outcry that Romney was out of touch with the average American.

"I'm not in the betting business," Perry quickly replied to his wealthy rival during the debate.
