Bernard Goldberg: Liberal Journalists Like Muslims, Not Christians

By    |   Monday, 12 Jan 2015 10:11 PM

Media critic Bernard Goldberg says there's no real mystery about why liberal journalists tend to show sympathy for Muslims but not for Christians.

Liberals tend to see Muslims as an oppressed group, Goldberg said Monday on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor."

Meanwhile, the Catholic Church and conservative Protestants tend to oppose things that liberals favor, such as abortion, gay marriage and allowing women to become priests.

"These are not church values, these are liberal and liberal-journalist values, Goldberg said. "Many journalists are not only liberal, but also secular liberals."

They'd like the church a lot more if the church adopted their values, he said.

"As for the Muslims, a lot of liberals at the New York Times and other places see Muslims as oppressed," Goldberg said. "They see them as in the cross-hairs of right-wing bigots, whether it's in Europe or in America," he said, and they are determined to be their protectors.

That choice is ironic, he said, because the worst the church can be seen as is bigoted, while in many Muslim countries gay people are put to death.
