Limbaugh Seeks Answers to Republican Hesitance on Defunding Obamacare

By    |   Wednesday, 31 Jul 2013 04:26 PM

Rush Limbaugh doesn't understand the Republican effort, led by Sen. mike Lee, to defund Obamacare.

"The entire Republican establishment has aligned against him," Limbaugh said Wednesday about the Utah Republican.

"Why are they afraid to even express opposition to Obamacare, I mean, in a believable, powerful way that would reach out and connect with what is a majority of the American people?" Limbaugh asked on his radio show.

"There isn't a single poll that shows a majority of the American people in favor of Obamacare," Limbaugh said. "What's the harm in standing up and saying, 'I don't support this?'"

The Republican-establishment positions runs contrary to a recent Pew Research Center poll. It found that two-thirds of Republicans want their party to change its direction, and more than half say they want the party to become more conservative, Politico reported.

Limbaugh asked if Obamacare's insurance-premium subsidies could be a reason for hesitation among the Republican establishment.

"I'm just speculating — maybe the Republicans are just scared to death that people are going to like this once they see it, and they're just scared to death of being on the record opposing it," he said.

Or it could be capitulation, as Limbaugh speculated recently:

"It could well be that they have now resigned themselves to the inevitability of full-fledged Obamacare."
