Former Secretary of State John Kerry is writing a memoir that should be released in 2018, Politico reports.

Kerry, also the 2004 Democratic nominee, has hired well-known book contract-negotiator Bob Barnett to start the process. The book, sources tell Politico, will cover Kerry’s time in politics and serving in the Vietnam War and how he grew up all over the world as the son of a foreign service officer.

"He’s not interested in writing a laundry list of accomplishments or travelogue," said a source. "It will be a very personal recollection taking readers inside that life and bringing them inside the room to see how decisions are made at the intersection of so much history and to get to know some of the compelling characters he’s known so well."

One of Kerry’s major accomplishments during his tenure as Secretary of State was negotiating the Iran nuclear deal, which restricts Iran’s nuclear program for at least 15 years. President Trump on Sunday vowed to "rigorously enforce the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action" despite calling the accord "disastrous" during his campaign.
