New York Mayor Bill de Blasio kept a JetBlue flight filled with 100 passengers waiting last month, DNA Info reports.

The jet was held up at the gate so the mayor, known for his late arrivals, could board a flight from JFK airport bound for San Juan, Puerto Rico.

On the waiting flight were other notables bound for the Somos El Futuro Fall 2014 Conference. They included state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and "numerous" other lawmakers, DNA Info said.

The mayor had attended an event on Coney Island previous to his late flight that ended at around noon, the New York Post reported of his schedule. His flight was not slated to take off until 1:52 p.m.

Aides said he did not ask the airline to hold the flight, the Post noted.

The mayor upset attendees, including family members, five days before the JetBlue incident at a Flight 587 memorial service — arriving late and missing the event's ringing of the bells, the Post said.

The Flight 587 crash occurred 13 years ago and killed 260 people, CBS 2 News reported.

The New York Daily News said the mayor "shrugged off" questions about being tardy.
