Sarah Palin: Governors Should Fill Leadership 'Void' on Ebola

By    |   Monday, 27 Oct 2014 08:22 PM

Governors are right to take matters into their own hands on Ebola quarantines because the Obama administration has dropped the ball, says former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

"There is a void of leadership here, and the governors need to step up and step in," Palin said Monday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record With Greta Van Susteren."

Palin said she thinks New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo were right to announce tougher quarantine procedures for healthcare workers returning from Ebola-stricken western Africa.

Cuomo, a Democrat, has since backed down under pressure from the White House, but Christie has defended his state's actions, even after a nurse who tested negative for Ebola threatened to sue after she was held inside a tent outside a New Jersey hospital.

She has since been allowed to return to Maine to quarantine at home.

Palin said any quarantines should be scientifically and medically based and not affected by politics.

"Liberals will capitalize on any crisis," Palin said.
