While President Barack Obama played golf at the Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla., newly released reports from the Federal Aviation Administration stated that the Secret Service was alerted of a drone spotted flying overhead, The Palm Beach Post reports.

Although it is not specified how close the drone was to the president, it is noted that the March 29 incident required the Secret Service to report to the FAA that the U.S. Coast Guard spotted a drone flying "in the vicinity of POTUS."

While this is the third documented incident involving a drone in the same vicinity as the president, The Palm Beach Post filed a Freedom of Information Act request for records on the event, but according to the Post, the Secret Service did not respond to a request for comment.

The FAA strictly prohibits the flying of drones near places like the White House, airports, or flying above 400 feet, however, the Post notes that these rules are continuously being broken.

According to The Washington Times, as pilots are reporting drone sightings, Homeland Security has issued warnings to remind law enforcement that drone use could be a potential way for terrorists to take down planes.

Experts say that besides terrorism, drones can also pose a threat to airplanes mechanically.

When taking off or landing experts claim that a drone could easily be sucked into the engine or hit the windshield of the plane.
