Girl Barred Over Ebola Fears Returns to School

Saturday, 01 Nov 2014 08:26 AM

A Connecticut girl barred from her elementary school amid fears she may have been exposed to the Ebola virus while in Africa is now back in class.

Seven-year-old Ikeoluwa Opayemi was permitted back at Meadowside Elementary School in Milford on Friday, three days after her father filed a federal lawsuit saying his daughter had been unfairly treated because she didn't pose a health risk.

The family visited Nigeria for a wedding from Oct. 2-13, but there are no known Ebola patients in Nigeria.

The Milford school system on Thursday reversed its decision to keep her out of class for 21 days.

Schools superintendent Elizabeth Feser and the girl's father, Stephen Opayemi, say the lawsuit was settled.
