Trump on 'Meet the Press': Chuck Todd Should Be Fired For Low Ratings

By    |   Monday, 13 Jul 2015 05:38 PM

A "Meet the Press"panel on Sunday wasn't impressed with Donald Trump's high poll numbers in the GOP presidential contest, saying he is out for attention more than truly wanting to govern the country.

And host Chuck Todd twisted the knife a bit more when he said America has seen "versions of Donald Trump over the years," including segregationist Alabama Gov. George Wallace, who ran for president in 1972.

Story continues below video.

Trump never takes insults lying down. Typically, he takes to Twitter to take his critics down a peg.

Trump has been calling Todd "sleepy eyes" and "moron" since January, Truth Revolt notes. Trump has been a big critic of the poor ratings of "Meet the Press" that Todd inherited when he took over from David Gregory last September.

Trump himself has been dumped from NBC's "The Apprentice," as has his "Miss USA" beauty pageant following remarks he has made on illegal immigration. But "Meet the Press," the oldest show on American television, has continued on the network.

Another Trump tweet indicated he has heard Todd's job is in jeopardy, though he didn't cite a source.

Trump has previously called conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer a "rodeo clown" and "totally overrated" and said National Review Online editor Jonah Goldberg a guy who "can't buy a pair of pants" after he criticized him.
