Former President George W. Bush saw a foul ball floating toward him and wife Laura while they were sitting in the front row at a Texas Rangers game against the Chicago White Sox Monday night. Although the Bushes were behind the safety net, they were near the edge, and Bush reached over to protect Laura but didn’t try to catch the ball.
White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski did try to snag the missile but wasn’t successful. The ball hit the top of the short stadium wall in front of the Bushes and bounced away.
“I told him just because he was the president doesn’t mean I won’t jump on top of him," Pierzynski said, according to ESPN. "Him and his wife got a good chuckle out of that one."

The catcher said he knew Bush was there. "I realized I almost jumped in the former president’s lap,” he said. Bush owned the Rangers from 1989 to 1998.
