Axelrod, Rove Team Up to Help Veterans Find New Careers

Democrat political strategist David Axelrod told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" he's teaming up with Republican political strategist Karl Rove to help veterans start new careers when they return from deployment.

Axelrod, who served as senior adviser to President Barack Obama, and Rove, former deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush, are working with American Corporate Partners, a nonprofit organization that connects veterans with businesspeople for guidance on entering the workforce.

"One of the byproducts of these wars is we've got these splendid young people who have so much to offer, but you want to hook them up with businesses. And, this organization matches volunteers from the business community with these veterans to give them the kind of support they need to go and find jobs," Axelrod said Tuesday.

Axelrod and Rove recorded a public service announcement to promote the program that provides mentoring, counseling, and networking services to returning veterans. Axelrod said the organization also provided online assistance to veterans seeking jobs.

"Part of it is this ACP advisernet.org, which is an online question-and-answer community where veterans who are looking to advance themselves in their careers and find jobs can go online, ask questions, and get answers from business professionals who volunteer their time," he said.
