Video of Female Soldier Who Won't Give Up on Test Goes Viral

Army Capt. Sarah Cudd's gritty determination to pass a tough physical test for medical professionals, captured by other soldiers on video, has gone viral, prompting plaudits for her refusal to give up, the Stars and Stripes reports.

Her attempt to earn the Army's Expert Field Medical Badge included a 12-mile march carrying a heavy backpack, which led Cudd to crumble mere feet from the finish line — only to rise again as her crew cheered her on, the military paper reported.

The badge is awarded to "those who can expertly perform in a simulated combat environment, both soldier common tasks and medical tasks," the Army Study Guide notes.

Since the video of her feat was posted online, it has been viewed more than a million times and shared more than 22,000 times, an eye-opening testament to the rigors of field training where "80 percent of those who attempted the course fell short," the paper said.

"C'mon, you got it. Get up," her fellow soldiers urged in the video as a struggling Cudd used her rifle to help herself stand amid rounds of supportive cheers. Hunched over as she pushed through the last few feet or her march, Cudd finally crossed the finish line.

Cudd, who is stationed with the Army's Public Health Command in Fort Knox, Kentucky, earned the prestigious badge along with 45 others, at Fort Dix, New Jersey on April 27, the Stars and Stripes reported.
