Report: New NBC News Chief Frowns at MSNBC Programming

By    |   Monday, 04 May 2015 06:13 PM

New NBC News President Andy Lack is looking at the programming on its ratings-troubled cable channel MSNBC, and some shows may be on the chopping block, Mediaite reports.

Lack now attends MSNBC President Phil Griffin's 11:30 a.m. editorial meetings, according to Mediaite, which quoted one source as saying Lack is "underwhelmed" by story pitches.

The executive producers of "Now with Alex Wagner," "The Ed Show," and "All In with Chris Hayes" have been told to put together "sizzle reels" of the best of their shows, Mediaite reports. The reels purportedly are intended to show what works best on the shows, but top staffers fear they may be in danger of cancellation, the website reports.

Lack also is considering a complete redo of the channel's daytime programming, Mediaite says.

MSNBC cancelled "The Reid Report" and "Ronan Farrow Daily" earlier this year.
