Andy Parker, the father of murdered WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker, appeared on CNN's "New Day" and criticized politicians for preventing sensible gun laws from being passed, Mediaite reports.

"Look, I'm for the Second Amendment, but there has to be a way to force politicians who are cowards and in the pocket of the NRA to come to grips and have sensible laws so that crazy people can't get guns," Parker told CNN.

After Alison and cameraman Adam Ward were fatally shot Wednesday morning during a live broadcast in Virginia, Parker told CNN that "his soul has been crushed" and "it's senseless that her life and Adam's life were taken by a crazy person with a gun."

When it comes to gun control, Parker says "it can't be that hard" and if he has to be the John Walsh of gun control — the former host of "America's Most Wanted" whose son was abducted — then he will.

"I'm going to do something, whatever it takes, to get gun legislation to shame people, to shame legislators into doing something about closing loopholes in background checks and making sure crazy people don't get guns," Parker said  Wednesday night on "The Kelly File."

"Politicians from the local level, and the state level, to the national level, they sidestep the issue," Parked said.

"They kick the can down the road. This can't happen anymore.”
